I was just wondering if anybody could recommend the best cities to find work and decent (and reasonably cheap) living conditions in the US?

We currently live out in Sweden and my wife is from the USA and has started to hint that she wants to go back there to live again in the near future. What I was wondering was if it’s really worth it at the moment with all the credit crunch stuff happening? I’m from the UK originally and by all accounts the recession seems to have hit most countries but is there a city that is better for jobs than any other (i.e. New York etc..)
